Bodo is an Indian language recognised in the Constitution’s eighth schedule, and the 2010 Civil Services (Main) Examination carried a compulsory paper in it. This page gives you that paper in its archived form. The commission issued the original; the scan here has been left untouched.

The point of a compulsory language paper
Compulsory language papers exist to confirm that a candidate can handle written work in an Indian language. They carry a pass standard of their own and the marks are handled separately from the ranking papers. Because of that, many aspirants delay them, then panic late. A calmer approach is to take one practice paper every few weeks from the start of preparation.
Study approach for Bodo candidates
Resources in Bodo are fewer than for Hindi or Marathi, so each real paper counts for more. Read it twice, once for understanding and once for structure. Notice what kinds of writing the paper asks for and how much space seems sensible for each. Then attempt it yourself with a stopwatch, and show the result to a Bodo teacher or an experienced writer.
| Check | Question to ask yourself |
|---|---|
| Spelling | Did I follow standard orthography? |
| Flow | Do my sentences connect smoothly? |
| Time | Did I finish every task? |
| Register | Is the tone formal enough? |
Remember the date
This is an examination from 2010. Syllabus, scheme and qualifying norms can have moved since, so the live notice on the commission’s site is the authority for any attempt you are planning. Use the paper for practice and for understanding the style, not as a forecast.
Using it with a mentor
If you work with a tutor, send them your script along with a short note about what you found hardest. A specific request, such as asking for comments on sentence structure or on the way you opened an answer, brings far more useful feedback than a general request to check everything. Over a month of such exchanges your writing will become noticeably cleaner, and the tutor will know where to push you further.
