The widest set on the Mains side
General Studies is the core of the UPSC Mains, and this series is built around it: forty-five archived question papers across four General Studies papers, from 2012 to 2025. Each is a scan of the official bilingual paper. Because answer keys are not part of the Mains process, none is included here.
| Years | Papers present |
|---|---|
| 2016 to 2025 | GS I, II, III and IV, every year |
| 2015 | GS IV |
| 2014 | GS II and GS III |
| 2013 | GS III |
| 2012 | GS I |
Five PDFs are attached. Their sizes are 0.5, 0.2, 0.2, 2.9 and 1.2 MB, so some are single question sheets and others larger scans.
Reading each paper by its theme
- GS I: Indian heritage and culture, history, geography and society.
- GS II: governance, constitution, polity, social justice and international relations.
- GS III: economy, agriculture, science and technology, environment, security and disaster management.
- GS IV: ethics, integrity and aptitude, including case studies.
How to turn this into a study plan
Choose a paper and collect ten years of questions in a single document, then group them by syllabus heading. Count the questions per heading and rank them. Your revision hours should follow that ranking, with extra time for areas you find hard. For GS IV, concentrate on the structure of case-study answers: stakeholders, options, ethical conflict and your chosen course of action.
For which aspirants
Every Mains candidate needs these papers, but they also help those still at prelims stage who wish to see where static syllabus topics end up. Teachers who prepare answer-writing tests will find the question wording a good model.
Answer-writing angles by paper
For GS I, add maps and short timelines; for GS II, quote constitutional articles and committee names only when sure; for GS III, back claims with a figure or a scheme; for GS IV, always state the values in conflict. Practise within the word limit, and use the ten-year block as a self-test: write one answer per paper each week and review them at month-end for structure and balance rather than for length alone.
On paper
Competer carries printed GS notes and mains test series for UPSC. A bound set along with a year-wise question bank turns this archive into a complete revision cycle.
